Tawfiq is Co-Head of Onex Partners. With Nigel Wright, he is responsible for Onex Partners’ operations and overall performance. Tawfiq is a member of the Investment Committee and oversees Onex Partners’ origination efforts in Aerospace and Transportation-focused industries.
Since joining Onex, Tawfiq has led Onex Partners’ investments in WestJet, Advanced Integration Technology (AIT), and BBAM and its related investments in FLY Leasing (NYSE: FLY) and Meridian Aviation.
Tawfiq currently serves on the boards of WestJet, AIT, and BBAM, and previously served on the boards of Celestica (NYSE:CLS) and Spirit AeroSystems (NYSE:SPR). He is a Trustee of the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) and a former Trustee of the International Association of Machinists National Pension Fund.
Prior to joining Onex, Tawfiq worked at Hellman & Friedman LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. Previously, Tawfiq worked in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. and Morgan Stanley Asia Pacific.
Tawfiq graduated from the University of British Columbia with a B. Sc. and B. Comm. (Honours).
