Soma has responsibility for leading the legal and compliance function for the wealth management operations. She is the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer of Onex Canada Asset Management Inc.
Prior to joining Onex, Soma was Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Richardson Wealth, one of Canada’s leading independent wealth management firms. Previously, she was Senior Vice President (Legal) at Citco Group of Companies and a senior associate at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP.
Soma has previously served on the board of one of Canada’s largest swim clubs where she advocated for increased representation of minority female swimmers and outreach to minority communities. She also informally mentors younger lawyers, especially those from minority backgrounds and those who practiced law outside Canada.
Soma holds a Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto and a Masters in Molecular Biology & Genetics from the University of Guelph. She has also completed the Canadian Securities Course and the Partners Directors and Senior Officers Course.
