Alkarim leads Onex Credit’s Canadian equity strategies and is the lead manager of the Onex Premium Income Fund and the Onex Dividend Distribution Fund.
Alkarim has over 25 years of experience in the financial markets. Prior to joining the firm in 2018, Alkarim worked at BMO Global Asset Management as the lead portfolio manager for the BMO Private Canadian Income Equity Portfolio and manager of the BMO Canadian Alpha Plus Fund. He also served on the BMO Global Asset Management Asset Allocation Committee. Alkarim began his career at Manulife Financial in their actuarial rotation program where he worked in Reinsurance, U.S. Individual and Asset Liability Management.
Alkarim is a CFA® charterholder, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and a registered Portfolio Manager of Onex Canada Asset Management Inc. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Western Ontario.
